How long does a DBS check take? 

They can take up to 8 weeks to complete, however this will vary depending on the level of check you’re having carried out, and it may be affected if local authorities have a backlog in processing. 

How does it work?

DBS checks are used to provide information for an organisation or employer – you are unable to ask for your own to be carried out, it must be in conjunction with an organisation or charity. 

Applying for a DBS on line with Millennium 

To apply for a DBS check on line, it is essential that all prospective employees have an e-mail address, a credit or debit card or a PayPal account to complete their DBS check on line. This will be relayed to the candidate at interview stage and in their offer letter. The Disclosure price has been agreed at £55.40 with the company GBG and must be paid for by the individual when applying on line.

 When prospective staff bring their offer pack back to HR Admin; They will be required to produce a minimum of three ID documents (originals) to be copied for our files (a list of which is provided in their pack). The most popular being: – 

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Birth Certificate
  • Document from a government agency
  • Utility Bill

HR Admin will first register the prospective staff member on the GBG Website, after which the individual will then follow the steps below and apply for their DBS check. 

Once Registered by Millennium

You will recieve an activation email containing: –

  • The Organisation Pin – this is specific to your organisation
  • Confirmation of Email Address – to be used as your username
  • Link to Registration Page – required to activate your account

Follow these steps

  1. Click the link within the email
  2. Create a memorable password
  3. Confirm the password by entering it again
  4. Click ‘Save password’
    Please Note: The password must be at least 8 characters in length, be a combination of UPPER CASE and lower case and numbers (0-9). You can add special characters (@!%$£) to increase your password security strength. 

ID verified by millennium

You are required to pay for the application, so once your ID has been verified, it is essential that you immediately log back in to the Online Disclosures system, (using the Original PIN, email address and password you created) to do so.  

Note: Most payments are processed through PayPal, ihowever, you do not have a PayPal account; select the option ‘Pay with a credit or debit card’.  PayPal will send an email to confirm receipt of payment. 

What you will need to complete the application?  

To make completing the application form as quick and easy as possible, please have the following information to hand (where applicable): 

  • Dates of any name changes (mm/yyyy 
  • Mother’s Maiden Name  
  • Full 5-year address history including dates (mm/yyyy 
  • National Insurance Number  
  • Passport  
  • Driving Licence 
  • National Identity Card 

At the end of this process you will receive a DBS certificate, which you will then share with your employer.

How long does a DBS check last? 

A DBS check never officially expires, but to keep it up to date, Millennium request that a DBS check is conducted every 3 years, which is paid for by the employee.

Currently they cost £55.40 for an enhanced check, which is the level that Millennium care requires.
