Real Stories

Behind every success is a person with dreams, determination, and the right support. Here, we celebrate the real stories of people building fulfilling lives in their own way.

Eating out isn’t just a meal
it’s a milestone

Our teams have been working with Gavin on his journey to independently enjoy meals out. And in particular, order his own food. Gavin has now conquered exciting milestones from enjoying fish and chips at the coast, to mastering the drive thru and ordering his own meal at a restaurant.
It may seem a simple task to some, but for Gavin it is a huge achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of him. It just goes to show, if you can dream, we can do it.

Building my own bar
BUILT MY CONFIDENCE TOO

Stephen has always dreamed of owning his own bar, and this year, it became a reality. It’s been a combined effort from Stephen, his support team, his friends and housemates. The bar (originally a shed in the back garden!) was modified and decorated with the help of Stephen’s friend Darien, who we also support. The bar is now filled with upcycled gifts from Stephen’s housemates, who wanted to help him make it truly unique. Here’s to many more happy hours at Bar 52.

I’M SERVING UP INDEPENDENCE
one meal at a time

Moving from hospital care to her own place was a big step for Emma. But it turned out to be the right one. With our support and the right team around her, she was empowered to build her independence and living skills and now proudly enjoys a regular routine of going to the gym and cooking for friends. On the menu for Emma? Strength, freedom and confidence.

To some it’s just sport
TO ME, IT’S
FREEDOM

When Jack moved into an adult residential setting from his children’s home, it was the start of a whole new chapter. For some that would be daunting, but for Jack, it redefined what life could look like. He had the right support around him, and threw himself into sports activities, everything from rugby to dance. The thing that stood out to us most was Jack’s confidence to say yes to life and keep progressing with his independence. Jack is a powerful example of what’s possible with the right support in place.

Finding stability helped me
find my sparkle

Moving to Millennium Support has been a game-changer for Bry. Now that she has her own home (and the support to live as independently as possible) she’s found the confidence she needed to take ownership of her life. Not only is Bry house-proud. She’s hair, makeup and nail-proud, constantly growing in confidence and embracing how she expresses herself.
